Summer Learning Success

The Blount County Education Foundation designed a summer program to ensure positive academic, social and emotional impact on more than 500 low-income students struggling with reading and math in a fun camp format. Twelve day camps were provided in five school communities, a fifteen day camp in one community, and the eighth camp lasting 20 days. Small group reading and math instruction was provided each day by highly qualified teachers. Enrichment activities, including art, music, drama, STEAM, and more were provided for students. In many cases, schools provided field trip opportunities, special speakers, and academic presentations. Summer Learning: A Blueprint for Success served 725 students through the eight camps.
