The Foundation is proud to support the Middle Alabama Area Agency on Aging (M4A) through our LIFT funding initiative. M4A plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for older adults, individuals with disabilities, and caregivers across central Alabama. They provide access to critical resources, advocate for vulnerable populations, and connect individuals with services that promote independence and well-being.
Through our partnership, M4A utilizes LIFT funds to assist individuals facing urgent, unmet needs that require financial support. Each person referred to M4A for LIFT assistance undergoes a comprehensive assessment to determine eligibility for additional public or private services. From there, M4A’s dedicated Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) team works closely with clients to ensure they receive the support they need to thrive.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What types of needs can be addressed through LIFT Funds?
LIFT Funds will be used for utilities, medications, supplies (medical supplies, food, water, incontinence supplies, pads, etc.), medical copays, emergency shelter/housing, and transportation.
Is there a per request or annual limit to potential funding assistance?
According to the LIFT Agreement, an individual may be assisted once a year. M4A and its Grantor have not set a per person limit; however, the total amount of LIFT Funds is limited. M4A is conscientious that the funds should be used to help as many people with emergency needs as is reasonable. M4A has access to additional resources which will be identified through the assessment process.
Will the number of requests that can be made in a given time frame be limited?
No. Through its Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC), M4A will work with each person referred for the LIFT Project to determine the individual’s needs and resources so that appropriate public and private programs are identified to meet the individual’s needs.
