Camp McDowell’s New Sloan Lake Trail

Camp McDowell has taken a significant step toward accessibility with the completion of a new ADA-compliant, trail along Sloan Lake in Bethany Village. This 1,000-foot concrete trail provides a pathway for everyone to enjoy the camp’s serene woods and lake views. Serving approximately 30,000 visitors annually, this addition will be a valuable resource for years to come.

Located in the heart of Alabama, Camp McDowell is known for its hospitality, outdoor education, and community programs that celebrate the environment, faith, and the arts. The camp is dedicated to fostering inclusivity and creating opportunities for all to connect with nature and each other.

Check out the before and after pictures below to see the incredible transformation! The Holle Family Foundation is proud to support this project, as it reflects our mission to increase access to the outdoors.
